SDJ was awarded the contract for the design and build of a Subsea Hydraulic Power Unit (HPU). The HPU will be used during pile installation operations for an ongoing Wind Farm expansion project. Designed using our experience and to our clients specification, the HPU will be mounted on a Template used to position and guide subsea piles, for wind turbine bases, during piling operations.

Taking SDJ’s experience of designing subsea hydraulics, a technical solution was developed to allow for the large hydraulic reservoir delta required to actuate the large number of cylinders mounted on the template. The HPU is designed to be installed onto the template before being deployed subsea at the wind turbine installation location. Appropriate mounting points were installed onto the template by the client to provide a location for the HPU.

The HPU features a removeable Glass Reinforced Plastic grating to provide both protection and access for maintenance and lift points were added to the HPU designed to DNV standards.
SDJ also undertook the Commissioning and client witnessed FAT as well as delivering a Maintenance Manual and User Manual.
